The veteran actor wrestled with how to transition the beloved character to a new chapter on CBS.

Andrew Terraciano Shows ‘Class and Grace’
Wahlberg praised Terraciano’s professionalism throughout the transition. ‘Andrew is a class individual,’ the actor stated. ‘I called him before this decision was made and spoke to him, and he was so gracious and so kind and supportive.’ The pair even joked about potential future collaborations. Terraciano, 23, appeared in 292 episodes across the original series’ run from October 2010 to December 2024.
Wahlberg continued, ‘He was willing to do whatever it took to help find the right guy. We even joked about him changing up his look and sneaking onto Boston Blue and playing a bad guy or doing something different. He was so gracious. I truly admire his class.’

Addressing Fan Disappointment Over Recasting
The spinoff faced significant fan backlash when the recast was announced. Wahlberg responded to viewers who felt disconnected from the change. ‘People’s disappointment in the decision tells me they haven’t watched the show or they’re also disappointed that Blue Bloods is gone,’ he explained. The actor urged critics to give the new version a chance.
‘I can assure every viewer out there that nobody was more disappointed than me,’ Wahlberg added emotionally. ‘Nobody cried more than me. Nobody’s heart was broken more than mine. I fought tooth and nail to save Blue Bloods. I did everything I could and now we’re on to this and I’m going to fight tooth and nail for this show the same way.’
Can Boston Blue Win Over Skeptical Fans?
Wahlberg pointed to upcoming episodes as proof of the spinoff’s quality. ‘If anyone hasn’t fully embraced the change of Sean, watch the midseason premiere. It is just my favorite episode so far,’ he shared enthusiastically. He credited both actors for their dedication to the transition. ‘I admire Mika for taking on this challenge and I admire the way he’s handled it. I love his work.’
The network is also teasing future cameos from beloved Blue Bloods alumni to maintain the franchise’s legacy. Wahlberg hinted at bringing back more characters, potentially including Tony Terraciano, Andrew’s real-life brother who played Sean’s older sibling Jack Reagan. The possibilities remain open for this growing universe.
