Colman Domingo attends Disclosure Day New York premiere ahead of June 12 release

Colman Domingo attended the New York premiere of Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day on June 8, 2026, just four days before the film’s wide theatrical release on June 12.

The film, directed by Spielberg and written by David Koepp, marks Spielberg’s long-awaited return to the alien genre after decades away. It stars Domingo alongside Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson in a mystery centered on the disclosure of a secret that could alter the direction of humanity’s fate.

Domingo has been vocal about his emotional connection to the project. When he first read the screenplay, he was moved to tears. “I literally just cleared the decks, because with certain writers and filmmakers you want to clear some time and read it all straight through,” Domingo explained in an interview with Seen on the Screen and Fandango. “By the end of it, I was weeping.”

The actor described Disclosure Day as “one of the most hopeful films anyone will see right now,” emphasizing that the core of the story is about “having faith in humanity.” This hopeful arc is wrapped up in large-scale action sequences and incredible set pieces typical of a Spielberg blockbuster.

To prepare for his role, Domingo revealed that Spielberg provided him with extensive research on UAPs—Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena—which he used to inform his performance and deepen his understanding of the world he was stepping into. “I called Steven immediately, and said thank you, that this is how much faith you have in us. Faith you have in humanity. Thank you,” Domingo said, reflecting on receiving the script.

The New York premiere followed earlier international premieres in Paris on June 2 and London on June 4-5, where the full cast and Spielberg appeared on the red carpet. With its June 12 release date approaching, Disclosure Day represents one of the most anticipated films of the summer, combining Spielberg’s signature storytelling with a contemporary exploration of how humanity would respond to proof of extraterrestrial life.
