Cubs score walk-off win over Giants 3-2 in 10 innings

The Chicago Cubs defeated the San Francisco Giants 3-2 in 10 innings yesterday at Wrigley Field, with Pete Crow-Armstrong and Michael Busch combining for the heroics in a dramatic walk-off victory.

Crow-Armstrong hit two home runs, including a game-tying shot with two outs in the ninth inning off Giants closer Keaton Winn. In the 10th, Busch singled to right field, and a misplay by Giants right fielder Victor Bericoto allowed Dansby Swanson to score the winning run from second base.

Crow-Armstrong finished 4-for-5 with two home runs, two RBIs and two runs scored, accounting for half of Chicago’s eight hits. His ninth-inning homer came after the Giants had taken a 2-1 lead on Matt Chapman’s sacrifice fly in the top of the frame. The Cubs had squandered scoring opportunities earlier, leaving nine runners on base through seven innings.

Ben Brown was dominant for the Cubs, pitching 5⅓ scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. He struck out five batters and lowered his ERA to 1.74. Ryan Rolison (5-1) earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning.

The victory marked the Cubs’ eighth walk-off win of the season, leading Major League Baseball. It was also their second walk-off victory in three days. An attendance of 39,248 filled Wrigley Field for the Saturday afternoon contest.
