Titanique Broadway earned four Tony nominations on May 5, 2026, including Best Musical, cementing the campy Céline Dion jukebox musical as a major contender at the 79th Tony Awards.
Quick Facts
- Titanique received nominations for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Leading Actress in a Musical (Marla Mindelle), and Best Featured Actor (Layton Williams)
- The show opened on Broadway April 12, 2026, at the St. James Theatre
- Co-creators Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli, and Tye Blue all contributed to the book
- Layton Williams won an Olivier Award for the show’s London premiere
The musical, a send-up of the 1997 James Cameron film Titanic set to the music of Céline Dion, began as a one-night concert in Los Angeles in 2017 before becoming an Off-Broadway sensation. The production ran at New York’s Daryl Roth Theatre for three years before transferring to the Main Stem.
Marla Mindelle, who stars as Céline Dion and co-wrote the show’s book, earned dual nominations for Best Leading Actress and Best Book of a Musical. In an interview with Playbill, Mindelle reflected on the recognition: “To be nominated feels like such a massive honor… When I was 10 years old, I said to myself, ‘At 26, I will have a Tony and be a millionaire from Broadway.’ And LOL, neither of those things happened. I may never be a millionaire, but to even have a Tony nomination, I feel like I fulfilled some part of my childhood dream.”

Constantine Rousouli, who co-wrote the book and plays Jack Dawson, described the show’s unlikely journey to the Broadway stage. “I’m so honored to be able to do this,” he said. “It’s our little engine that could.” Layton Williams, nominated for Best Featured Actor for his role as the Iceberg, is reprising his Olivier-winning performance from the show’s London run.
The musical has spawned international productions in Australia, Canada, London, Chicago, and Paris. Titanique is scheduled to run through September 20, 2026, at the St. James Theatre.
