Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You debuts 12 mini-episodes on Crunchyroll ahead of July premiere

Crunchyroll released 12 mini-episodes of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You on June 3, 2026, giving fans an early look at the anime adaptation before its full July premiere.

Quick Facts

  • 12 mini-episodes, each approximately 10 minutes long, are now streaming on Crunchyroll
  • The mini-episodes present the first 6 full episodes of the anime in chronological order
  • The anime will premiere on TBS and 27 other channels in July 2026
  • New episodes will air every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST

The slice-of-life anime, based on Jinushi’s manga, follows Sasaki, an overworked middle-aged office worker, and Tayama, a biker who meet at a secret smoking area behind a supermarket. Crunchyroll’s early release of the mini-episodes mirrors the anime’s limited advance streaming on Japan’s ABEMA platform, which also debuted on the same date.

The anime stars Takuya Satō as Sasaki and Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama. Directors Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori are helming the series at Asahi Production, with character designs by Yasuka Ōtaki. The rock band ZUTOMAYO performs the opening theme, while musician imase performs the ending theme “Fiction.”

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. The manga, written and illustrated by Jinushi, originally launched on X/Twitter in March 2022 before serialization in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine began in August 2022. The series won eighth place in the 16th Manga Taisho awards in 2023.
