Every Year After showrunner plans 5 seasons for Prime Video series

Showrunner Amy B. Harris has ambitious plans for every year after the premiere of Prime Video’s romantic drama series, envisioning five seasons that will expand far beyond the source material. Harris revealed her vision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, stating she sees the lakeside setting of Barry’s Bay as having much more story to tell.

The series, which adapts Carley Fortune’s novel Every Summer After, launches June 10, 2026 on Prime Video with all eight episodes released at once. Harris has already mapped out a potential season 2 that would adapt Fortune’s connected novel One Golden Summer, which follows Sam’s brother Charlie as he finds love on the same lake.

“I see five seasons,” Harris told Entertainment Weekly. “We have these six main characters, and I think we’ll be adding characters as the seasons go on. I really see this as a series, and it’s why we built it the way we did so that we can come back and explore a lot more romance.” Harris added that she wants to explore not just the initial romance between leads Percy and Sam, but also the complexities of maintaining a relationship over time, noting that “even if you end up in a happy relationship, relationships are a lot of work, and they don’t come easily.”

Although the series has not yet been picked up for a second season, Harris expressed confidence in the show’s potential. The cast includes Sadie Soverall as Percy, Matt Cornett as Sam, Aurora Perrineau as Chantal, Michael Bradway as Charlie, Abigail Cowen, and Elisha Cuthbert.
