Paramount Games Studio, a newly unified gaming division combining Paramount and Skydance gaming studios, positioned The Last Ronin as a core example of its strategy to transform major IP into immersive franchise experiences. Shawn Kittelsen, senior vice president and head of creative and production at Paramount Games, emphasized strong storytelling as central to the project, noting that games represent one of the most powerful ways for fans to engage with a franchise’s narrative.
To maintain momentum ahead of the game’s eventual launch, Paramount announced a 10-page comic prequel titled The Last Ronin: Training Day, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, releasing July 9. The one-shot focuses on Michelangelo during a 24-hour training period with Casey Marie Jones, daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones, set between issues #3 and #4 of the original series.
A limited-edition merchandise collection featuring The Last Ronin-themed apparel and collectible poster art from artist BossLogic is also in the works.
