Before finding fame on screen, Head became well-known in the United Kingdom during the 1980s as the face of Nescafe coffee advertisements, appearing opposite Sharon Maughan in the popular Gold Blend couple ads from 1987 to 1993. He also enjoyed a long stage career, performing in multiple productions of The Rocky Horror Show and musicals including Godspell and Chess.
Head’s daughters said in their statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father.” They added that he “loved his job very much” and “always considered himself incredibly lucky.” His daughters both work as actresses—Emily is known for playing Carli D’Amato in The Inbetweeners, while Daisy has appeared in shows including Harlots and Shadow and Bone.
Head lost his long-term partner, animal welfare activist Sarah Fisher, in December 2025 at age 61. His brother Murray is also an actor, who appeared in the 1971 Oscar-nominated film Sunday Bloody Sunday.
