As the nation marks its 250th Independence Day this weekend, communities from coast to coast will stage neighborhood celebrations under the banner of America’s Block Party. The series of local events—organized through the nonprofit America250—mixes music, family activities and fundraising efforts tied to the anniversary.
What America’s Block Party is — and why it matters now
Rather than being a single, centralized festival, America’s Block Party is a national umbrella for independently run Fourth of July gatherings. The aim is to put community programming front and center during the milestone year and to channel energy into civic causes.
Part of the initiative is Giving 4th, a fundraising push that promotes donations to charities working in areas such as civic engagement, education, housing, conservation and veteran services. For people wanting to mark the holiday with a charitable gift, the America250 site lists vetted nonprofit partners.
Dates and major events
The bulk of official Block Party programming is scheduled around July 3–5, 2026, with some host cities extending activities over multiple days. A livestreamed benefit from One Times Square on Friday, July 3, serves as an early highlight; larger national broadcasts will run on July 4.
Official host locations
Many towns and neighborhoods will hold independent block parties, but eight cities were designated as official host sites for headline programming. These include:
- New York City — One Times Square (Historic Giving 4th benefit, livestream July 3) and Times Square Skywalk (July 4–5)
- Los Angeles — LA Memorial Coliseum (July 4 benefit show)
- Boston — Hatch Memorial Shell (Boston Pops Fireworks, July 4)
- Charleston, S.C. — Waterfront Park (July 4)
- Fort Campbell, Ky. — Fort Campbell Festival (July 4)
- Milwaukee — Summerfest downtown (July 2–4)
- Philadelphia — Benjamin Franklin Parkway (One Philly: Unity Concert for America, July 4)
- Atlanta — Select live performance segments tied into national broadcasts
Music and national broadcast
There is no single touring lineup for America’s Block Party; performances are tied to specific city events. For viewers at home, CBS will present a national special titled “The Great American Block Party 250” on Saturday, July 4, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
The broadcast is expected to include performances from artists across several host locations, with confirmed appearances including Queen Latifah (Los Angeles benefit), The Roots and Jill Scott (Philadelphia), Zac Brown Band (Atlanta), Jon Batiste (Montclair, N.J.), Goo Goo Dolls (Irvine, Calif.) and The War and Treaty (Nashville).
