Shoshana Bean wins first Tony Award for The Lost Boys role

Shoshana Bean won the 2026 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Lucy Emerson in The Lost Boys, marking her first Tony win after two previous nominations. The award was presented at the 79th Annual Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on June 7.

Quick Facts

  • Bean’s role is the single mother in the vampire musical based on the 1987 Warner Bros. film
  • This is her third Tony nomination and her first win in the category
  • The Lost Boys earned 12 Tony nominations total, including Best Musical
  • Bean previously received Tony nominations for Hell’s Kitchen and Mr. Saturday Night

In an emotional acceptance speech, Bean told the audience: “This is for every woman who ever felt like she was too much or not enough. I beg you not to wait for permission to be all of who you are. Take up space, make your own path, make mistakes, make messes, make new things, be free, be loud, be brave.” She credited the women around her for their support and encouragement.

Bean competed against Hannah Cruz (Chess), Rachel Dratch (The Rocky Horror Show), Ana Gasteyer (Schmigadoon!), and Nichelle Lewis (Ragtime). Her win in the category comes as Ali Louis Bourzgui also won for Best Featured Actor in The Lost Boys, making the vampire musical a standout performer at the 2026 ceremony.

A Broadway Career Built on Major Roles

Bean is best known for her extensive work in Wicked, where she portrayed Elphaba as a standby and later took on the role full-time. She also performed Elphaba in the first national tour and played Jenna in Waitress. Her recent Broadway appearances before The Lost Boys included Tony-nominated performances in Hell’s Kitchen and Mr. Saturday Night, establishing her as a versatile performer across musical theater.

The Lost Boys officially opened on Broadway on April 26 at the Palace Theatre. The musical, with direction by Michael Arden and a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, uses vampirism to explore identity, transformation, and coming of age when a mother and her two teenage sons move to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California.
