Bourzgui’s win came in a competitive category that included André De Shields, Bryce Pinkham, Ben Levi Ross, and Layton Williams. In his acceptance speech, he honored immigrant families and Arab theatre makers, calling for their stories to be told on stage.
The Lost Boys, which officially opened on Broadway in April at the Palace Theatre, has become one of the season’s major successes. The musical adapts the cult classic 1987 film with a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch and music and lyrics by The Rescues. Prior to this role, Bourzgui appeared on Broadway as Tommy in The Who’s Tommy and as Orpheus in Hadestown.
