YouTube TV is stepping away from its NBA Finals presenting sponsorship after an eight-year partnership, leaving the 2026 championship series without an official sponsor for the first time since the arrangement began in 2018.
The NBA confirmed the end of the deal to Awful Announcing, marking a significant shift in how the league presents its marquee event. YouTube TV was the first-ever presenting sponsor of the NBA Finals when it launched the partnership in March 2018, and its branding remained a fixture of the broadcast throughout the intervening years.
The change aligns with efforts to restore prestige to the Finals. YouTube TV’s advertising presence had become increasingly prominent over the years—at times as many as nine YouTube TV ads appeared on screen simultaneously during 2023 broadcasts—and the league has been working to recapture the glamour of the championship series through other production changes, including the return of starting-lineup introductions and repositioning the Larry O’Brien Trophy at center court.

YouTube and the NBA will continue to work together on international games and NBA TV content carried on the YouTube platform, but the presenting sponsorship era has ended. The 2026 Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs began June 3 without a presenting sponsor attached.
