Devil May Cry renewed for third and final season at Netflix

Netflix has renewed Devil May Cry for a third and final season, bringing the acclaimed animated adaptation to a close after showrunner Adi Shankar’s long-planned trilogy reaches its conclusion.

Season 2 of the Capcom-based series, which premiered on May 12, 2026, has already accumulated 6.4 million views in its first two weeks on the streamer, continuing the show’s strong momentum following Season 1’s 21.7 million views in 2025.

Shankar revealed that the series was always conceived as a three-part narrative structure inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. “Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso,” Shankar said in a statement. “These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since inception ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.”

The final season will differ from a typical third season of a TV show, according to Shankar’s announcement. “With ‘Season 3,’ I am doing something very different. I am crafting a blueprint for how this game is won,” he wrote. What’s on Netflix reports the season is expected to be a shortened finale, though the exact format remains unclear.

The voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady. Studio Mir handles the animation for the series, which has been praised for its approach to video game adaptation.
