YouTube TV has ended its presenting partnership with the NBA Finals, marking the close of an eight-year sponsorship deal that began in 2018. The streaming service is no longer the official presenting partner for this year’s Finals, which tip off tonight between the Knicks and Spurs on ABC.
The Rise and Reign of YouTube TV’s NBA Finals Sponsorship
When YouTube TV announced its partnership in March 2018, it became the first-ever presenting partner of the NBA Finals in the league’s history. The multiyear deal was groundbreaking for sports sponsorships at the time, giving the live TV streaming service prominent branding throughout all Finals games. The partnership also extended to the WNBA Finals and NBA G League Finals.
Throughout the sponsorship, “The Finals presented by YouTube TV” logo appeared on the court, in-arena signage, and across ABC broadcasts and digital platforms. The branding proved ubiquitous — perhaps too much so. During the 2023 Finals, YouTube TV’s presence became so overwhelming that critics noted the excessive advertising overshadowed the games themselves, with analysts counting up to nine different YouTube TV logos visible simultaneously on the court at times.

Why the Deal Ended
The NBA Finals now has no presenting sponsor for 2026. While the exact reasons for the sponsorship’s end haven’t been publicly disclosed, the deal’s conclusion reflects broader shifts in how streaming services approach sports marketing. YouTube TV has faced subscriber challenges and competitive pressure from other streaming platforms offering live TV, which may have prompted a reevaluation of its sponsorship priorities.
The absence of a presenting sponsor this year marks a notable change to the Finals broadcast landscape. For nearly a decade, YouTube TV had been synonymous with the championship series, but that partnership has now come to an end.
