- Law & Order: Organized Crime concludes after five seasons
- Brilliant Minds cancelled after two seasons in May 2026
Syndication End Marks Major Shift
The cancellations include several syndicated programs that were staples of daytime television. Access Hollywood, a three-decade entertainment news fixture, ended production in March 2026 as part of NBCUniversal’s decision to cease all first-run syndication programming. The show’s companion program, Access Live, and talk shows Steve Wilkos and Karamo are also ending. The Kelly Clarkson Show, the host’s daytime talk program on NBC, concluded its final episode after running for seven seasons since its 2019 debut.
Scripted Series Among Cancellations
NBC is also cutting scripted programming from its slate. Law & Order: Organized Crime, the Christopher Meloni-led spinoff that debuted in 2021, is being cancelled after five seasons. Brilliant Minds, which starred Zachary Quinto, was cancelled in May 2026 just two seasons after its premiere. The medical drama had been pulled from NBC’s schedule on February 4, 2026, before the formal cancellation announcement. Game show Stumble is also ending after a single season.

Network Strategy and Future Direction
The scale of these cancellations reflects NBC’s broader effort to overhaul its content across both daytime and primetime slots. The network’s exit from first-run syndication marks the end of an era for daytime television, where programs like Access Hollywood had thrived for decades. The shift suggests the network is redirecting resources and focus toward different programming formats to compete in an evolving media landscape.
