Taylor Lautner announced he’s expecting a baby girl with his wife Tay, sharing an emotional gender reveal on Instagram on June 7 and expressing that becoming a “girl dad” has always been his dream.
The Twilight actor and his wife revealed the baby’s sex in a heartfelt video, with Tay overcome with emotion as pink letters spelling “GIRL” appeared on a laptop screen. The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, first announced the pregnancy in March with a post captioned “what’s better than two Taylor Lautners?”
In a post on his Instagram story, Lautner said: “My dream has always been to become a girl dad.” He expanded on his reasoning, writing: “All of my puppies have been girls. Some of my best friends in the whole world are girls. My only sibling is my baby sister. I have an incredible mother.”
Lautner, 34, continued with an emotional reflection on what the moment meant to him. “Tay is my favourite person to ever exist and she just so happens to be a girl. All I wanted was a healthy baby but deep down this moment is what I was dreaming of,” he wrote, according to The Irish News. “The weight that was lifted off my shoulders in this moment knowing that dream came true was unlike anything I’ve felt. Tay is the strongest person I know and my hero.”
The actor, best known for playing werewolf Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga film series (2008–2012), closed his message with enthusiasm for the next chapter. “I can’t wait to welcome this little baby girl into our world. Team girl,” he said.
Tay, 29, has previously shared her mixed feelings about parenthood. In an interview with Us Weekly, she acknowledged some nervousness about raising children in the current climate, saying she was grateful for support from experts and friends navigating similar journeys. The couple met in 2018 when Lautner’s sister introduced them at a games night, and they became engaged in November 2021 before marrying the following year.
