Tom Cruise to honor David Beckham at Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on June 12

Tom Cruise will honor David Beckham at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Friday, June 12, as the soccer legend receives the 2,849th star on the iconic Los Angeles landmark at 10:00 AM PT.

The ceremony takes place at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Ovation Hollywood, with Beckham receiving his star in the Sports Entertainment category. Cruise and Beckham’s wife Victoria will both serve as guest speakers, while iHeartMedia personality Ellen K will emcee the event. The celebration will be streamed live at walkoffame.com.

The timing of the honor carries special significance, as it arrives during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicked off on June 11 with matches in Mexico and the United States. The World Cup runs through July 19 and marks the first time the tournament is hosted in North America, with games across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

Beckham’s global soccer career spanned two decades. He was the first English football player to win league titles in four countries: England, Spain, the United States, and France. His clubs included Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain, and he captained the England national team for six years.

Since retiring from professional play in 2013, Beckham has expanded his influence far beyond the pitch. He became a billionaire, joining a small group of just seven living professional athletes to reach that milestone, according to Forbes. In 2018, he became a co-owner of Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF, which won the MLS Cup in 2025.

Beyond sports ownership, Beckham has built a diverse portfolio. He founded Studio 99, a content production company that has created Emmy award-winning documentaries including the Netflix series Beckham. He’s also worked with major global brands including Adidas, Bank of America, and Hugo BOSS, and serves as Ambassadorial President of the British Fashion Council.

According to Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, Beckham’s recognition comes at a fitting moment. “Beckham’s role in elevating soccer’s profile in America and his lasting influence on sports, entertainment, and global culture make this honour especially meaningful,” Martinez stated in the official announcement.

Beckham has also maintained a strong commitment to philanthropy. He has worked with UNICEF for over 20 years as a Goodwill Ambassador and in 2015 launched the 7 Fund with UNICEF to support vulnerable children. In September 2025, he was knighted by King Charles III for his services to sports and charity.
