- “Transcendent” releases June 9, 2026 in bookstores nationwide
- The tour includes stops in San Francisco (June 11) and Los Angeles (June 12)
- Cox is a four-time Emmy-nominated actress and LGBTQ+ advocate
The four-time Emmy-nominated actress is embarking on a multi-city book tour to celebrate her upcoming memoir, which traces her journey from a traumatic childhood in Alabama to her breakthrough role as Sophia Burset in “Orange is the New Black.” According to GLAAD, the memoir is structured into three parts and offers deeply personal perspectives on Cox’s experiences as a trans woman in entertainment.
Cox nearly abandoned her Hollywood dreams before her career-defining role on “Orange is the New Black” at age forty. She has since appeared in acclaimed productions including “Inventing Anna” and “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” and became the first transgender executive producer to win a Daytime Emmy Award for “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word.”
Tomorrow’s New York event at Strand Book Store will feature Cox in conversation with actress, comedian, and content creator Dylan Mulvaney. The tour continues with San Francisco on June 11, where film director Cheryl Dunye will moderate, and Los Angeles on June 12 with television host Justin Sylvester.
