Paula Badosa returns to competition at Libema Open after month-long break

Paula Badosa returns to competition at the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, starting today after more than a month away from the tour. The former world No. 2 received a wildcard for the WTA 250 grass-court event, which runs through June 14.

Badosa’s last competitive match came at the Madrid Open in April, where she lost to Julia Grabher. Following that defeat, she announced she would skip the Italian Open and French Open to take a break from competing.

“I’m super grateful and excited to announce that I’m going to receive a wildcard for the Libema Open,” Badosa said via the tournament’s official Instagram account. “I’m happy to return back to competition after a while, and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans in The Netherlands.”

The Spanish player has faced a challenging 2026 season, struggling to recapture the form that brought her to world No. 2 ranking in previous years. Her comeback comes after an injury-plagued 2025 season and ongoing physical challenges.
