Brian Stokes Mitchell performs at Miscast 2026 in New York

Broadway legend Brian Stokes Mitchell took the stage at MCC Theater’s Miscast 2026 on April 27, singing from roles he would never traditionally be cast in at the annual benefit concert held at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Quick Facts

  • Miscast 2026 took place April 27 at Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan
  • The concert featured Broadway stars performing songs from roles outside their typical casting
  • Will Van Dyke served as musical director for the event
  • The evening honored producers Roy Furman and Jill Furman, plus MCC Youth Company alum Jose Useche

The one-night-only musical spectacular brought together some of Broadway’s biggest names. Alongside Mitchell, the lineup included Lea Michele and Nicholas Christopher from Chess, Tony winners Darren Criss, Jane Krakowski, Ruthie Ann Miles, and Caissie Levy from Ragtime, plus Emmy winner Tramell Tillman.

Miscast is an annual MCC Theater gala where performers step outside their usual casting to tackle unexpected material. The 2026 edition, like previous years, was designed as a fundraiser celebrating the joy of theatrical reinvention. The event was also made available to stream digitally worldwide for free.
