The Terror: Devil in Silver, the third installment in AMC’s acclaimed horror anthology series, premiered on May 7 on AMC+ and Shudder with Dan Stevens leading the cast as Pepper, a working-class moving man wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital.
Quick Facts
- Six-episode limited series based on Victor LaValle’s 2012 novel “The Devil in Silver”
- Premiered May 7, 2026 on AMC+ and Shudder
- Dan Stevens stars and serves as executive producer

Stevens plays Pepper, a man who finds himself trapped in New Hyde, an institution filled with secretive doctors, dangerous patients, and something far more sinister. The series explores themes of institutional critique and the U.S. mental health system, with the hospital serving as a metaphor for how society confines those deemed inconvenient.
The ensemble cast also features CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, John Benjamin Hickey, Stephen Root, and Michael Aronov. Judith Light plays a veteran New Hyde patient. Emmy nominee Karyn Kusama, known for her work on “Yellowjackets,” directs the first two episodes and serves as executive producer.

A Genre Story With Social Depth
Unlike the first two seasons of The Terror—which drew from historical events including Sir John Franklin’s doomed Arctic expedition and Japanese-American internment during World War II—Devil in Silver marks the first cycle set in modern times. The series adapts Victor LaValle’s novel, which explores vulnerability and institutional power through both supernatural horror and social realism.
The show received world premiere recognition at Cannes Series on April 27, 2026. It will also air on AMC later this year. The series was executive produced by Ridley Scott through Scott Free, with showrunners Chris Cantwell and Victor LaValle helming the creative vision.
