Paul Rudd worked with his wife Julie Rudd for the first time on the indie drama “Rain Reign,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6, 2026, marking a major milestone in their 23-year marriage.
Quick Facts
- Julie Rudd made her feature film producing debut on the project
- The film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival on June 6, 2026
- Paul Rudd, 57, stars as the uncle to a 12-year-old neurodivergent girl who loses her dog in a storm
- The project reunites Rudd with “Clueless” costar Jeremy Sisto over 30 years after the 1995 film
In an exclusive interview with People, Paul said he was “really nice to go to set every day together” with Julie, who served as a producer. “One, she was really good at it. That’s not surprising. But it was really nice to go to set every day together,” he explained.
The couple filmed the movie in upstate New York, near their home, allowing them to avoid the separations that typically mark Paul’s career. “This was like one of the first times, the first time really, that we really did kind of go to work together and it was really nice,” he said.

Their children, Jack, 20, and Darby, 16, joined them on set multiple times—a rarity for the now young adult and teenage kids. Paul joked that when they were younger, they would visit film sets mainly for the craft service table. “But then over the last many years, they’re not really [coming], either it’s in some far away location or they got their lives,” he said. “They don’t really care. It was kind of cool that they wanted to come to set on this one.”
The film also reunites Paul with Jeremy Sisto, who plays Rose’s struggling single father. The two last worked together on “Clueless” in 1995 and now share mutual friends in New York City, where they both live. “To get to work with him was really great, and there was something very gratifying just about the history I suppose we shared,” Paul said. “One thing you can’t manufacture is history with somebody. It really is something to treasure.”
“Rain Reign” is an adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s bestselling book and features newcomer Felice Kakaletris in her first major film role. Director Erika Burke Rossa makes her feature directing debut with the project. Paul expressed enthusiasm for both: “I’m very excited for Felice because she’s so great in the movie… And Erika, it was her first film, that she’ll get to see her movie premiere there with the audiences. That’s really gratifying.”
