Megan Thee Stallion takes the stage for 79th Tony Awards opening performance

Megan Thee Stallion took her place among the presenters at the 79th Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7, as Broadway’s biggest night unfolded at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The Grammy-winning rapper made her Broadway debut earlier this year in the hit musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical, playing the role of Zidler in a limited eight-week engagement that began in March. Her appearance as a presenter marked a significant moment for the artist, who added Broadway credentials to her music career.

The ceremony itself featured an elaborate opening number with more than 170 Broadway performers, written by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul and Mark Sonnenblick and choreographed by Sarah O’Gleby. The 79th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by P!NK, aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
