Morgan Wallen cancels 2nd Pittsburgh concert at Acrisure Stadium due to severe weather

Morgan Wallen cancelled his second Pittsburgh concert at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, June 6, due to severe weather concerns, just hours before the show was scheduled to begin on his Still the Problem Tour.

The cancellation was announced around 1:30 p.m. local time. “After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions,” Wallen said in a social media statement. The Pittsburgh region was under a severe weather watch with strong wind gusts, hail, and thunderstorms possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Wallen’s first show at the stadium on Friday, June 5, had proceeded as planned, with approximately 140,000 fans expected across the two-night stand. The cancellation refunds were made available to ticket holders through point of purchase.

However, the severe weather failed to materialize as forecast. Storms rolled through the area around 3:00 p.m., but the weather cleared well before the scheduled 8:00 p.m. start time. The Washington Wild Things, an independent league baseball team, were able to proceed with their Saturday night game and even offered free admission to Wallen fans as an alternative.

Wallen responded to criticism about the cancellation in a video posted late Saturday night. “This morning, my team walked on my bus, told me that they had been consulting with local officials, and that I should cancel my show in Pittsburgh tonight,” he explained. He noted that his team had warned him about potential strong winds and that a large stage could become dangerous in those conditions. “I have a large stage that, in those conditions, could become fatal to a lot of folks around it,” Wallen said, adding that he made the decision based on the information available at the time.
