Hannah Waddingham shut down rumors of a rift with Jason Sudeikis, calling the speculation “ridiculous, clickbait” in an Instagram Story posted Tuesday. The Ted Lasso actress and her costar have been the subject of intense scrutiny following her recent comments about their on-set dynamic.
In a Variety interview last week, Waddingham described having an “ongoing love-hate relationship” with Sudeikis because of his frequent last-minute script rewrites. “There’s always going to be a bit of give and take within a scene, because of the nature of how Sudeikis works,” she told the outlet. “He hears it in the room, and then we tweak. With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches.” The comments sparked widespread speculation about tension between the two stars.
Waddingham took to social media to clarify. “For the first time ever I am finding it necessary to silence the utter bollocks being written about a ‘rift’ between me and my beloved, long-standing friend and acting partner Jason Sudeikis,” she wrote, according to Entertainment Weekly. She added, “Is it a quiet news day or something?! Get a life!!!” The actress also used the post to promote Ted Lasso season 4, which premieres August 5 on Apple TV+.
