Show summary Hide summary

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You released 12 mini-episodes early on Crunchyroll on June 3, 2026, giving fans a preview of the anime adaptation ahead of its full premiere in July.

Quick Facts

  • 12 mini-episodes released early on June 3, 2026
  • Each episode runs approximately 10 minutes
  • Mini-episodes adapt the first 6 full episodes of the anime
  • Full series premiere scheduled for July 2026

Early Premiere Strategy for Summer Anime

Crunchyroll rolled out the early release following a limited advance streaming in Japan on the ABEMA platform, which also debuted the same episodes on June 3. The 12 mini-episodes present the first six episodes of the anime in chronological order, each running about 10 minutes. This approach allows viewers to preview the growing relationship between the two main characters—Sasaki, an overworked salaryman, and Tayama, a young woman in a biker jacket—without waiting until the full broadcast begins.

About the Anime and Original Manga

Mio Inoue handles series composition, Yasuka Ōtaki designed the characters, and Shin Kōno and Sayaka Aoki composed the music. The rock band ZUTOMAYO performs the opening theme, while musician imase performs the ending theme “Fiction.” Crunchyroll will stream the anime in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. The full series will air on TBS and 27 other channels in Japan every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST.
