The film follows Wang Wei (played by Xie Miao), a determined father whose daughter is abducted by a criminal network. When corrupt police offer no help, Wei takes matters into his own hands. What Critics Are Saying About the Action
Early reviews highlight the film’s fight choreography as its defining strength. Brian Tallerico from RogerEbert.com noted that “the dialogue is atrocious, the plotting is goofy, and no one will care because Tanigaki has conceived, choreographed, and executed some of the most impressive fight scenes in years.”

The Road to Release
The Furious had its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. The film was originally scheduled for a May 29 release but was pushed back to June 12.
