General Hospital has recast the role of Scout Cain with 16-year-old actress Kayden Brenna Tokarski, who will make her Port Charles debut in July as part of a soap opera rapid aging storyline for the character. Tokarski replaces Cosette Abinante, who played Scout since 2022.
Quick Facts
- Kayden Brenna Tokarski is 16 years old, making her daytime debut on the ABC soap.
- Scout Cain was born on screen in February 2017, making the character about 9 years old before the age-up.
- Cosette Abinante played Scout for four years, from September 2022 through her final air date.
- Tokarski’s debut is set for July 2026, coinciding with the show’s 16,000th episode milestone.
The Age-Up Decision
General Hospital producers made the decision to recast and age up Scout Cain using Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome (SORAS), a technique daytime soaps have used for decades to rapidly advance a character’s age when storyline needs require it. Scout, the daughter of Drew Cain (played by Cameron Mathison) and the late Sam McCall (formerly played by Kelly Monaco), was introduced as a newborn in February 2017. By aging her into her teenage years, the show opens new narrative possibilities for the character as she navigates family drama—her father is currently in a locked-in state following what appeared to be a stroke but was actually caused by poisoning from her stepmother Willow (played by Katelyn MacMullen).
Tokarski’s Background and Career
Although General Hospital marks her first daytime role, Kayden Brenna Tokarski has been acting professionally since age 10 and has built an impressive resume across film and television. In 2022, she played a younger version of Julia Roberts‘s character in the Starz political thriller Gaslit. She went on to appear in Lifetime films including My Professor’s Deadly Secret (2024) opposite James Hyde and Killer in the Woods. Tokarski has also lent her voice to a national Wendy’s commercial, voicing Wednesday Addams for a Netflix tie-in campaign, and appeared in the sci-fi feature Roswell Delirium alongside Anthony Michael Hall. She recently wrapped the neo-noir thriller Quads & the Kicker and will appear in the upcoming Curse of Vandor franchise, which stars Dee Wallace, a former General Hospital actress.
