A Reunion After 24 Years
When Amy Sedaris stepped onto the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere, she was reconnecting with a collaborator from her past. The actress and comedian, 65, had appeared alongside Jennifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan, the 2002 romantic comedy that also starred Ralph Fiennes, Natasha Richardson, and Stanley Tucci. In an exclusive interview with People at the premiere, Sedaris reflected on that earlier chapter of her career and what it was like to work with Lopez again on their latest project.
Sedaris described one standout memory from the Maid in Manhattan set: Lopez’s constant musical presence. “Singers sing. So between takes, she’d be humming or singing,” Sedaris recalled. Despite the years that have passed, Sedaris expressed genuine warmth about reuniting with Lopez. “I like doing things, you get a small part. You get in, you get out, but it was good to see her again,” she told People. In Office Romance, Sedaris plays Julie Schatz in a supporting role.
