Hall of Famer Transitions from Pitcher to Broadcaster

Kluber retired after the 2023 season following an impressive 13-year MLB career. The former Cleveland Guardians ace said during his transition that staying involved in the game was important to him personally. His move from the playing field to the analyst chair marks a natural progression for many retired elite athletes. Kluber’s deep knowledge of pitching mechanics and strategy should provide viewers with unique insights.

Since stepping away from active competition, Kluber has worked as a special assistant with the Guardians organization. Tonight’s debut signals a new chapter in his post-playing career, combining his expertise with national television exposure on NBC’s flagship baseball program.

The Cy Young Resume Behind the Mic

Kluber’s accolades make him an ideal analyst for primetime baseball coverage. He claimed two American League Cy Young Awards, winning in 2014 and again in 2017. Additionally, Kluber was a three-time MLB All-Star and led the major leagues in earned run average during his dominant 2017 season. His career statistics include 116 wins and a 3.44 ERA across 13 major-league seasons.

One of his most memorable achievements came on May 13, 2015, when Kluber threw a no-hitter for Cleveland, striking out nine batters and walking only one. These credentials underscore why NBC selected him as a key voice for their expanded baseball coverage.

  1. Why is it necessary to talk about what every pitch is? Can’t we talk about the players, their lives, their families, the game itself anything but oh my God, it’s another fastball, it’s another curveball, it’s another two seamer piece of something! I bet 95% of the public who listens and watches these games gets tired of hearing about what the pitch is! Talk about the players! Talk about past players, give us some crazy stories about the game and the players! Anything, and I mean anything but what pitch that just was!
