His opponents have consistently struggled to keep pace. On Monday’s episode, he dominated with $24,900 before Final Jeopardy even aired, more than double his closest competitor’s score.

The Princeton Polyglot Behind the Crown
Jamie Yan Ding is from Detroit originally, having graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 2009. He earned his degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University in 2013 but has since pursued a completely different path. Since 2021, he has worked at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency as a multifamily and tax credit program administrator.
Beyond his day job, Ding is currently a weekend JD student at Seton Hall Law School. His devotion to his alma mater runs deep. He famously wore Princeton orange and black on his first game and continued sporting orange on subsequent appearances as a tribute to his school colors.

The General Tso’s Connection and Personal Brand
Ding has become a fan favorite partly due to his unique personality. During his on-air interview with host Ken Jennings, he revealed that he and his sister run an Instagram account called @attorneygeneraltsos dedicated to reviewing General Tso’s chicken at restaurants across the region. The creative wordplay blends his legal aspirations with his culinary passion.
When Jennings asked about his devotion to orange, Ding explained a touching family story. His mother, who grew up in communist China, never had the freedom to choose a favorite color. When asked as a child about his own preference, Ding chose orange, and his parents impressed him by painting his entire childhood bedroom in that color. His love for the shade has never wavered since.
What Lies Ahead for the Rising Champion
Ding‘s winning streak continues to capture national attention. How many more games will he win before facing defeat? Will he reach 20 games, 30, or even climb higher on the historic leaderboard? The New Jersey Herald, Detroit Free Press, and Bergen Record are all tracking his progress closely. Even New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill and Senator Andy Kim have publicly congratulated him on his achievements. As he secures his spot in the season-ending Tournament of Champions, one question dominates fan discussions everywhere: Can Jamie Ding build on this momentum and challenge the legends?
