Kat Timpf reveals a powerful transformation after her breast cancer diagnosis. The Fox News contributor was diagnosed with stage zero breast cancer just hours before giving birth to her son in February 2025. Now cancer-free since April, she’s sharing how she’s become a changed person.
🔥 Quick Facts
- Diagnosis Timing: February 2025, just 15 hours before childbirth
- Cancer Type: Stage zero DCIS in her nipple with no lymph node spread
- Cancer-Free: Declared cancer-free in April 2025, less than 3 months after diagnosis
- Treatment: Double mastectomy in March, reconstruction surgery in July, nipple tattoo in December
A Life-Changing Moment, One Day at a Time
The 37-year-old comedian had been nine months pregnant when she noticed a small lump on her nipple. She was using a breast pump to try and induce labor and nearly dismissed the finding. Her sister insisted she show her doctor. “If I hadn’t, we could be having a very different conversation right now,” she tells People Magazine. That same day she had an ultrasound, then a biopsy shortly after.
Fifteen hours before going into labor, the results came back positive. “I was completely in shock,” she recalls. “I kind of blacked out because I wasn’t able to process what was happening.” She welcomed her healthy baby boy, but her postpartum quickly transformed into a whirlwind of doctor appointments and life-altering decisions about her treatment.

Inside Her Toughest Physical and Emotional Battle
Timpf was offered two options: a double mastectomy or a lumpectomy followed by radiation and years of medication. She chose the mastectomy. “I never really considered the latter,” she explains. “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but it was an easy decision. I want to be in my son’s life for as long as possible.”
The recovery proved brutal. Forced to sleep upright on her couch while her wounds healed, bleeding from both childbirth and surgery simultaneously, she reached a breaking point. “My body was falling apart,” she says. “A mastectomy is no joke, physically very painful. You’re just like, ‘Enough already,’ but you don’t have a choice. I just lost it.” She couldn’t lift her newborn, which made her feel like a failure as a mother.
The Strength That Emerged From the Darkest Days
| Recovery Milestone | Timeline |
| Diagnosis | February 11, 2025 (before childbirth) |
| Double Mastectomy | March 19, 2025 |
| Declared Cancer-Free | April 3, 2025 |
| Breast Reconstruction Surgery | July 2025 |
| 3D Nipple Tattoo | December 2025 |
Now, months into recovery, Timpf has discovered something profound. She doesn’t force positivity on herself. “Negative emotions are an unavoidable part of an experience like this. Having those low moments allows real gratitude to sprout on its own,” she shares. Watching her son wake up happy to see her in the morning reminds her of what matters most. “There’s nothing better in the world that could ever be going on than me walking into that room. That’s just the best feeling ever.”
“There’s a strength that I have now after going through all of that. I had a very unique experience being faced with both life and death in the same day, the birth of my son and then the diagnosis of a disease that could have killed me. I’m a changed person.”

Finding Power in Turning Pain Into Purpose
Timpf views her experience as an opportunity to help others. “It was a very tough thing to go through. But there’s so much power in turning all that bad into something good,” she says to People Magazine. She’s determined to raise awareness for young women and breast cancer, building a community of support. Her comedy also became therapeutic. “When I go on stage and make jokes about my breast cancer, it’s freeing. I’m removing some of the power that this horrible trauma has over me.”
She credits her husband, Cameron Friscia, an investment banker and military veteran, with saving her through the ordeal. “He was with me at the hospital, helping me shower, emptying out my drains. He’s really shown me what love is,” she shares. Her father also drove from Michigan to New York to support her. Her entire support system became her anchor during the most painful chapter of her life.
What Does a Second Chance at Life Look Like for Kat Timpf?
In December 2025, she traveled to Maryland to meet artist Vinnie Myers, who specializes in 3D nipple tattoos for breast cancer survivors. Standing topless before a mirror for the first time since her mastectomy, she broke down in tears. “I feel amazing,” she says. “It looks like I have nipples. At the same time, I don’t and never will. That’s something I haven’t entirely worked through at this point.” She still struggles with the physical aftermath, but she’s rewriting her story daily.
Going forward, Timpf will have regular doctor checkups every six months. She also kicked off a nationwide comedy tour in March 2026, balancing motherhood with her career. She’s juggling it all, trying her best to stay present in every moment. “Whenever I’m working, I feel like I need to be with my kid. Whenever I’m with my kid, I feel like I’m not getting enough work done. I just try my best to stay present,” she admits, laughing. Her life has fundamentally changed, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
