“Brigley” fans got validation in the finale. When Stephen reveals Bree and Wrigley’s ongoing affair at the wedding, Evan explodes with rage. I like to believe that Lucy goes on from here and actually is able to have a happy life, but I think she needed to have that wake-up call.” Earlier in the season, Diana told Lucy the only way to be free of Stephen is to let him think he won.
In the finale’s closing moment, Lucy finally understands. She’s laughing because she’s recognizing the ridiculousness of her situation and breaking free from the toxic cycle.
