The marathon features water stops every 1.5 miles, strategic Gatorade fueling stations, and GU Energy Gel support at miles 5.5 and 19. Port-a-potties line the entire route, ensuring runners never have to compromise on comfort. Qualification and Certification Details
The 2026 Shamrock Marathon serves as a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon, attracting serious runners nationwide. The course carries official USATF Sanctioned Event certification (#161954) and course certification VA26004RT. Runners can join organized pace groups led by Running Etc. coaching staff. The event features minimum age requirements, time verification for elite corrals, and a strict no-dogs policy for runner safety. Prior weekend events include the TowneBank 8K on Saturday and the Leprechaun Dash for younger participants.
