Arturas Zuokas, the mayor of Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius has come out in strong opposition to cars parked in bike paths on roads. Really strong opposition, military grade in fact, as this new video of the Vilnius mayor crushing an illegally parked Mercedes Benz shows. While staged, the unconventional (and controversial) public service announcement is a beautiful performance.
In contrast, Toronto’s mayor Rob Ford has said he does not believe bicycles belong on roads. As Bruce Arthur, sports columnist for the National Post put it on Twitter: “In Toronto Rob Ford might do this, but he’d run over the cyclists.
