Economic commentary or crude comedy?

Without any liner notes in sight, no one knows for certain whether the latest hit single to come out of Ireland is intended as social satire in the wake of that country’s economic crisis.

But even if the horse-praising lyrics penned by comedy duo The Rubberbandits were meant to be no more than a crude joke, it hasn’t stopped people from making the links, and at least one politician is cheering them on in their quest to become the number one Irish single of the holiday season.

So what do you think: is Horse Outside a work of social commentary or just a vulgar laugh?
